Jen introduced one of our members Bryony Hum and husband, who gave us an interesting talk on one of their holidays in Costa Rica. With the aid of slides Bryony was able to describe her experiences in the country and there were many. Bryony explained that Costa Rica had 5 tectonic plates and 112 volcanos, with the Pacific ocean on one side of the country and the Caribbean on the other. Their travels took them to many places of interest, butterfly sanctuary, Cocoa plantation and museums to name a few. Everywhere they looked they encountered wild life. Insects, Iguanas and the lovely birds around their hotel. The slides included photos of the black turtle, oriole snake, squirrel monkey, racoon, lizards ,turtles and crabs. On their trip in an inflatable boat they saw many howler monkeys and crocodiles. They braved a rope bridge to see many animals and birds in the natural rainforest. At the end of the talk a vote of thanks was given to Bryony and Joe for a throughly entertaining and interesting talk. Pauline J won the competition for the best Green Heart, Mary came second and Pat M third.
